Kalasapakkam Assembly constituency is located in the state of Tamil Nadu and has witnessed electoral contests mainly between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), along with the presence of the Indian National Congress (INC).
In the 2021 Assembly elections, DMK’s P. S. T. Saravanan won the seat by securing 94,134 votes. He defeated AIADMK’s V. Panneerselvam, who secured 84,912 votes. The margin of victory stood at 9,222 votes.
Earlier, in the 2016 Assembly elections, Kalasapakkam had a total of 2,19,301 electors, of which 1,85,859 valid votes were polled. AIADMK’s V. Panneerselvam won the seat with 84,394 votes, defeating Indian National Congress candidate G. Kumar, who secured 57,980 votes. The margin of victory was 26,414 votes.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, the constituency had 1,80,390 electors and recorded 1,55,790 valid votes. AIADMK’s S. S. Agri Krishnamurti won the seat with 91,833 votes, defeating Indian National Congress candidate P. S. Vijayakumar, who secured 53,599 votes. The margin of victory stood at 38,234 votes.
