Poompuhar Assembly Election Results 2026
Poompuhar Assembly constituency is located in Mayiladuthurai district. It is a coastal constituency with a significant agrarian and fishing population. In the 2021 Assembly elections, DMK’s Nivedha M. Murugan won the seat with 96,102 votes, defeating AIADMK’s S. Pavunraj, who secured 92,803 votes. The margin of victory was 3,299 votes. In the 2016 Assembly elections, AIADMK’s S. Pavunraj won the seat with 87,666 votes, defeating DMK’s A. M. Shahjahan, who received 67,731 votes. The margin of victory was 19,935 votes. In the 2011 Assembly elections, AIADMK’s S. Pavunraj won the seat with 85,249 votes, defeating PMK’s K. Agoram, who secured 73,876 votes. The margin of victory was 11,373 votes.
