Anaikattu Assembly constituency is located in the state of Tamil Nadu and has witnessed electoral contests among major regional parties such as the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK).
In the 2021 Assembly elections, DMK’s A. P. Nandakumar won the seat by securing 95,159 votes. He defeated AIADMK’s D. Velazhagan, who secured 88,799 votes. The margin of victory stood at 6,360 votes.
Earlier, in the 2016 Assembly elections, Anaikattu had a total of 2,31,928 electors, of which 1,81,622 valid votes were polled. DMK’s A. P. Nandakumar won the seat with 77,058 votes, defeating AIADMK’s M. Kalaiarasu, who secured 68,290 votes. The margin of victory was 8,768 votes.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, the constituency had 1,88,555 electors and recorded 1,47,194 valid votes. Pattali Makkal Katchi’s M. Kalaiarasu won the seat with 80,233 votes, defeating Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam’s V. B. Velu, who secured 52,330 votes. The margin of victory stood at 27,903 votes.
