Kilpennathur Assembly constituency is located in the state of Tamil Nadu and has witnessed electoral contests mainly between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK).
In the 2021 Assembly elections, DMK’s K. Pitchandi won the seat by securing 1,04,675 votes. He defeated PMK’s K. Selvakumar, who secured 77,888 votes. The margin of victory stood at 26,787 votes.
Earlier, in the 2016 Assembly elections, Kilpennathur had a total of 2,33,605 electors, of which 1,97,287 valid votes were polled. DMK’s K. Pitchandi won the seat with 99,070 votes, defeating AIADMK’s K. Selvamani, who secured 64,404 votes. The margin of victory was 34,666 votes.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, the constituency had 2,05,491 electors and recorded 1,73,576 valid votes. AIADMK’s A. K. Aranganathan won the seat with 83,663 votes, defeating DMK’s K. Pitchandi, who secured 79,582 votes. The margin of victory stood at 4,081 votes.
