US President Donald Trump on Thursday said he may skip his eldest son Donald Trump Jr’s wedding amid escalating tensions over Iran, quipping that he would 'get killed' whether he attended the event or not.Speaking to reporters during an Oval Office interaction, Trump said he would try to attend the wedding but suggested that the ongoing Iran situation and possible media scrutiny made the timing difficult."He'd like me to go… This not good timing for me. I have a thing called IRAN… If I do attend, I get killed. If I don’t attend, I get killed. By the fake news, of course," Trump said.
The remarks came as reports suggested that Donald Trump Jr, 48, is set to marry Palm Beach socialite and model Bettina Anderson this weekend at a private ceremony in the Bahamas.According to CNN, the guest list has intentionally been kept small, with only close family members and friends invited to the intimate affair.Click here for Iran live war updates Trump indicated that his attendance was uncertain due to international developments and security concerns surrounding presidential travel."That's one I can't win on," he added while referring to possible criticism from the media regardless of whether he attends the wedding.
Donald Trump Jr announced his engagement to Anderson in December during a White House holiday party. The couple reportedly got engaged at Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland. Anderson later hosted a bridal shower at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach.
The upcoming ceremony will mark Trump Jr's second marriage. He was previously married to Vanessa Trump, with whom he shares five children, before their divorce in 2018.
