Cheyyar Assembly constituency is located in Tamil Nadu and has witnessed electoral contests mainly between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), along with the presence of the Indian National Congress (INC).
In the 2021 Assembly elections, DMK candidate O. Jothi won the seat by securing 1,02,460 votes. He defeated AIADMK’s K. Mohan, who secured 90,189 votes. The margin of victory was 12,771 votes.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, Cheyyar constituency had a total of 2,43,084 electors, of which 2,05,813 valid votes were polled. AIADMK candidate K. Mohan won the seat with 77,766 votes, defeating Indian National Congress candidate Dr. M. K. Vishnuprasad, who secured 69,239 votes. The margin of victory was 8,527 votes.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, the constituency had 2,11,108 electors and recorded 1,79,221 valid votes. AIADMK candidate N. Subramanian won the seat with 96,180 votes, defeating Indian National Congress candidate M. K. Vishnuprasad, who secured 70,717 votes. The margin of victory stood at 25,463 votes.
