Arcot Assembly constituency is located in the state of Tamil Nadu and has witnessed electoral contests mainly among the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK).
In the 2021 Assembly elections, DMK’s J. L. Eswarappan won the seat by securing 1,03,885 votes. He defeated PMK’s K. L. Elavazhagan, who secured 83,927 votes. The margin of victory stood at 19,958 votes.
Earlier, in the 2016 Assembly elections, Arcot had a total of 2,46,835 electors, of which 2,03,392 valid votes were polled. DMK’s J. L. Eswarappan won the seat with 84,182 votes, defeating AIADMK’s K. V. Ramadoss, who secured 73,091 votes. The margin of victory was 11,091 votes.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, the constituency had 2,11,067 electors and recorded 1,75,610 valid votes. AIADMK’s R. Srinivasan won the seat with 93,258 votes, defeating PMK’s K. L. Elavazhagan, who secured 74,005 votes. The margin of victory stood at 19,253 votes.
