Dharmapuri Assembly constituency is located in the state of Tamil Nadu and has witnessed electoral contests among parties such as the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK).
In the 2021 Assembly elections, PMK’s S. P. Venkateshwaran won the seat by securing 1,05,630 votes. He defeated DMK’s Thadangam P. Subramani, who secured 78,770 votes. The margin of victory stood at 26,860 votes.
Earlier, in the 2016 Assembly elections, Dharmapuri had a total of 2,52,311 electors, of which 2,07,476 valid votes were polled. DMK’s P. Subramani won the seat with 71,056 votes, defeating AIADMK’s P. D. Elangovan, who secured 61,380 votes. The margin of victory was 9,676 votes.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, the constituency had 2,15,940 electors and recorded 1,68,248 valid votes. DMDK’s A. Baskar won the seat with 76,943 votes, defeating PMK’s P. Santhamoorthy, who secured 72,900 votes. The margin of victory stood at 4,043 votes.
