Udumalaipettai Assembly constituency, located in Tiruppur district of Tamil Nadu, forms part of the Pollachi Lok Sabha constituency. The constituency has a mixed demographic profile, with about 52.83 per cent of its population classified as rural and 47.17 per cent urban according to the 2011 Census. Scheduled Castes account for around 19.64 per cent of the population, while Scheduled Tribes constitute about 0.09 per cent.
In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly election, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam retained the seat with K. Radhakrishnan securing 96,893 votes. He defeated the Indian National Congress candidate K Thennarasu, who polled 74,998 votes. The AIADMK secured 49.85 per cent of the vote, while the Congress received 38.59 per cent.
Historically, Udumalaipettai has largely witnessed contests involving the AIADMK and the DMK or their alliance partners. In recent Assembly elections, the AIADMK has maintained a strong presence, with K. Radhakrishnan winning the seat in both 2016 and 2021.
The constituency is currently represented in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly by K. Radhakrishnan of the AIADMK, while the Pollachi Lok Sabha constituency is represented in Parliament by K. Eswarasamy of the DMK.
