Tinsukia is an assembly constituency in Assam's Tinsukia district, part of the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha area, blending urban commerce, tea estates, and a diverse population. Sanjoy Kishan of BJP is the current MLA, having won in 2021 and previously in 2016. In 2021, he secured 85,857 votes (66per cent share), defeating Shamsher Singh of Assam Jatiya Parishad (15,060 votes, 12per cent) by a landslide margin of 70,797 votes. Urban-rural infrastructure gaps, including roads, flooding from nearby rivers, and traffic in this commercial hub, challenge development despite BJP's dominance. Tea industry employment, youth job creation, and balancing industrial growth with welfare for SC/ST communities are priorities. Voter turnout hit 75.5per cent in 2021, reflecting high engagement amid anti-CAA sentiments in the past.
