Alliance tallies shift across Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Puducherry and Kerala
Counting is underway across four states and results are taking shape at different paces. In Tamil Nadu, where 118 seats are needed for a majority in the 234-seat assembly, independent and smaller party candidates cumulatively hold a tally of 115 seats, with 10 declared and 105 leads still in play, leaving them just 3 short of the majority mark. SPA has a tally of 60, with 7 won and 53 leading, while NDA is at 55, all leads and no declared wins yet. In West Bengal, BJP has crossed the majority mark of 148 in the 294-seat house on the strength of its tally, with 11 seats won and 168 leads giving it a combined count of 179. TMC trails with a tally of 106, comprising 2 won and 104 leading seats. Candidates from other parties or independent candidates cumulatively lead in 8 seats in West Bengal. In Puducherry, NDA has won 13 seats and is leading in 5 more for a tally of 18 in the 30-seat assembly, crossing the majority mark of 16 if those leads hold. SPA has a tally of 5 there, with 2 won and 3 leading. Kerala's 140-seat assembly requires 71 for a majority. UDF leads with 68 seats won and 19 more leads for a tally of 87, already past the majority mark on current trends. LDF has won 30 and is leading in 6 for a tally of 36. Candidates from other parties or independent candidates cumulatively hold a tally of 17 seats in Kerala, with 13 won and 4 leading.
