Manas Assembly constituency is one of the 126 constituencies in the Assam Legislative Assembly, created as a new seat in the 2023 delimitation exercise. It is located in the Baksa-Chirang corridor of the Bodoland Territorial Region, adjacent to Manas National Park — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — and falls under the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha segment. The constituency has a predominantly rural, tribal-influenced electorate.
The main political parties in Assam include the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), Bodoland People's Front (BPF), United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM).
As a newly created constituency, Manas does not carry a direct 2021 result. The broader Bodoland belt in 2021 saw UPPL dominate in partnership with BJP: Tamulpur (ST) was won by UPPL's Jolen Daimary by 57,059 votes and Chapaguri (ST) by UPPL's Urkhao Brahma with 61,804 votes. In 2026, BJP fields Pintu Ghosh (BPF ticket) against Congress's Anjan Talukdar for this new Bodoland constituency.
The 2026 Assam Assembly elections will test Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's BJP-led government, which swept to power with a comfortable majority in 2021. With the opposition Congress-AIUDF combine seeking to consolidate anti-incumbency sentiment, every constituency will be a crucial battleground in deciding whether the state returns a second consecutive BJP government.
