Baksa Assembly constituency is one of the 126 constituencies in the Assam Legislative Assembly, created as a new Scheduled Tribes (ST) reserved seat in the 2023 delimitation exercise. It is located in Baksa district, part of the Bodoland Territorial Region, and falls under the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha segment. The constituency draws from the tribal-dominated rural terrain of the Bodoland area, adjacent to the Tamulpur and Chapaguri segments. The main political parties in Assam include the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), Bodoland People's Front (BPF), United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM). As a newly created constituency, Baksa (ST) does not carry forward a 2021 result under its current name. The adjacent Chapaguri (ST) seat in 2021 was won by UPPL's Urkhao Brahma with 61,804 votes, while the Tamulpur (ST) seat was won by UPPL's Jolen Daimary by a margin of 57,059 votes — reflecting UPPL's commanding hold on the Bodoland belt under the NDA alliance. In 2026, BJP fields Maneswar Brahma (contesting on BPF's ticket) while Congress fields Jagadish Madahi.
