Kamalpur is an assembly constituency (No. 56) in Assam's Kamrup district, part of the Mangaldoi Lok Sabha constituency. It primarily covers rural areas around Kamalpur town, about 32 km from the district headquarters, with an agrarian economy.
BJP's Diganta Kalita won in 2021 with 81,083 votes (54per cent share) and a margin of 18,114 over INC's Kishor Bhattacharya (62,969 votes, 42per cent). AGP's Satyabrat Kalita had secured it in 2016 with 78,170 votes.
The constituency has a total population of around 169,235 (88,582 males, 80,653 females per recent estimates), featuring a largely rural voter base with high participation rates in elections.
