Bhergaon Assembly Election Results 2026

Bhergaon Assembly constituency is one of the 126 constituencies in the Assam Legislative Assembly, created as a new seat in the 2023 delimitation exercise. It is located in the Baksa-Udalguri corridor of the Bodoland Territorial Region and falls under the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha segment. The constituency has a predominantly rural, tribal-influenced electorate with agriculture and forest-based livelihoods. The main political parties in Assam include the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), Bodoland People's Front (BPF), United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM). As a newly created seat, Bhergaon does not have a 2021 election result. The adjacent Kalaigaon constituency — abolished in the 2023 delimitation — was won in 2021 by BPF's Durga Das Boro with 60,815 votes. The 2026 contest sees BJP fielding Maheswar Baro (contesting on BPF's ticket) against Congress's Anchula Gwra Daimary in what is expected to be a closely watched first election in this new Bodoland seat. The 2026 Assam Assembly elections will test Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's BJP-led government, which swept to power with a comfortable majority in 2021. With the opposition Congress-AIUDF combine seeking to consolidate anti-incumbency sentiment, every constituency will be a crucial battleground in deciding whether the state returns a second consecutive BJP government.
