The Dhubri Assembly constituency is one of 126 constituencies in the Assam Legislative Assembly and is designated as constituency number 8. It is a general seat, not reserved for Scheduled Castes (SCs) or Scheduled Tribes (STs), and falls under the Dhubri Lok Sabha constituency. In the 2021 Assembly elections, Nazrul Hoque of the AIUDF won the seat, defeating Dr. Debamoy Sanyal of the BJP by a margin of 77,813 votes. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rakibul Hussain of the INC secured the Dhubri Lok Sabha seat, defeating AIUDF’s Badruddin Ajmal by 10,12,481 votes.
According to the Election Commission, Dhubri had 1,77,130 registered voters in 2021, including 91,578 males and 84,975 females. No voters were registered under the third gender. The constituency recorded 577 valid postal votes and 161 service voters (158 men and 3 women).
