Two cousins killed as dumper runs over motorcycle in Unnao

Times News NetworkKanpur: Two cousins riding a motorcycle died on the spot after a sand-laden dumper ran over them on Tuesday morning in the Purwa Kotwali area of Unnao, police said.According to the police, the dumper, which was out of control, struck the motorcycle near Gokulpur turn while coming from the opposite direction. Police reached the spot after being informed, took possession of the bodies and sent them for post-mortem. The dumper was seized, but the driver and conductor fled.Police identified the deceased as Abhay Pratap Singh (23) and Suryansh Singh (12), cousins and residents of Behatanthai village under the Achalganj police station area. Both were staying at their maternal grandfather Kamlesh Singh’s house.According to police and family members, the two were travelling to the Purwa area to collect medicine for jaundice when the accident occurred. Eyewitnesses said the collision threw both onto the road and the dumper ran over them before moving ahead. A crowd gathered soon after and informed the police.Abhay Pratap Singh was the only son of his family and worked as a driver to support them. He married about two years ago and is survived by a six-month-old son. His death left his wife, parents and infant son devastated.Suryansh Singh was also the only son of his family and was a class 8 student. Family members said they had many hopes for his future, but the accident left those dreams unfulfilled. The family was plunged into grief after receiving the news.Circleo Officer (Purwa) Arvind Chaurasia and Kotwali in-charge Bhavan Singh Maurya reached the site with police personnel. Police inspected the spot, sent both bodies to the district hospital for post-mortem and informed the families.The dumper was found parked a short distance from the accident site, and the driver and conductor abandoned it and fled. Police were searching for them and reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras to identify the absconding accused and initiate legal proceedings.The CO said that two young men died in the road accident near Gokulpur turn. Police are investigating the matter. Both bodies have been sent for post-mortem, the dumper involved in the accident has been seized, and a search is underway for the driver and conductor. Necessary legal action will be taken on the basis of the written complaint.
