Kanpur: Police in Banda arrested four men, including the survivor's boyfriend, after an 18-year-old woman alleged that she was forcibly made to consume alcohol and cannabis before being gang-raped in the City Kotwali area.
According to the FIR, the woman, a resident of a village under Kotwali police station limits, alleged that her boyfriend, a resident of Mahokhar village, called her on Sunday on the pretext of meeting her. She claimed that he, along with three friends, drove her around in a car throughout the day.
In the evening, they allegedly took her to the Nawab Tank area, where she was forced to consume alcohol and cannabis. Taking advantage of her intoxicated condition, the accused allegedly raped her, police said.
The accused later fled, leaving her behind. She reached home late at night and informed her family, following which a complaint was lodged at the Kotwali police station.
Based on her complaint, police registered an FIR under
gang rape and other relevant sections. Acting on the directions of Superintendent of Police Palash Bansal, police conducted raids and arrested all four accused from their homes the same night.
The accused were medically examined and produced before a court on Monday, which sent them to jail. SP Bansal said the case is under investigation and evidence is being collected.
