Iran War News: Fresh Israeli strikes were reported across southern Lebanon on Thursday, while drones were seen flying at low altitudes over the capital, Beirut.

According to US officials, Iran fired missiles toward Kuwait and Bahrain, but none reached their targets. Two missiles aimed at Kuwait broke apart mid-flight, while those targeting Bahrain were intercepted by US and Bahraini forces.
The developments came amid reports from Iran's semi-official Fars and Tasnim news agencies claiming that Tehran had stopped communicating with mediators about extending a ceasefire in its conflict with the US and Israel. President Donald Trump, however, rejected the reports and said negotiations were continuing.
The reports, published by Fars and Tasnim, both considered close to Iran's Revolutionary Guard, surfaced as tensions also rose on Israel's northern front with the Iran-backed Hezbollah group in Lebanon.
A regional official involved in mediation efforts told The Associated Press, on condition of anonymity, that Iran had not communicated with mediators on Tuesday after insisting that a ceasefire in Lebanon must be enforced before negotiations could move forward.
In a separate development, the US military said it had stopped another oil tanker attempting to reach an Iranian port in violation of the American blockade. According to CENTCOM, it was the seventh vessel intercepted while trying to bypass the restrictions.
The Botswana-flagged merchant vessel M/T Lexie was halted after its crew allegedly ignored repeated warnings for 24 hours. CENTCOM said a US aircraft fired a Hellfire missile into the ship's engine room, disabling the vessel.

"We could get it right now. I don't think they could stop us if we wanted, but there's no reason to. It's entombed," he told reporters in the Oval Office.
Trump also said that he did not want to meet with Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. But he added that if Washington and Tehran reached a deal, it was possible that the two would meet and added: "If it happened ... I'd be respectful".

UN nuclear watchdog says it's unable to implement its monitoring responsibilities in Iran
The UN nuclear watchdog has been unable to inspect nuclear facilities in Iran affected by the war last June according to a confidential report by the UN nuclear watchdog circulated to member states and seen Thursday by The Associated Press.
The International Atomic Energy Agency reported that it “cannot provide any information on the current size, composition or whereabouts of the stockpile of enriched uranium in Iran or whether Iran has suspended all enrichment-related activities.”
The IAEA warned that it was “unable to discharge its safeguards responsibilities” that it has under the Safeguards Agreement of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, adding that it is “indispensable and urgent” for Tehran to implement its obligations under that Treaty.
The only nuclear facility inspected in Iran by IAEA inspectors since the last report in February has been the Bushehr nuclear power plant, which was visited on June 1-3. The reactor currently running at Bushehr uses uranium from Russia enriched to 4.5%, a low level needed for power generation in such plants.

India condemns killing of UN peacekeeper in Lebanon
India condemned on Thursday the attack on peacekeepers in Lebanon, which killed a Serbian soldier serving the UN.
“India reiterates the fundamental importance of respecting the sanctity and inviolability of UN premises and personnel,” India’s UN Mission said in a statement that condemned the attack that occurred on Wednesday.
Condemning the attack that resulted in the seventh fatality since March, Secretary-General António Guterres warned that it could amount to a war crime.
His spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, said Sergeant Milovan Jovanovic, serving with the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), was killed when a mortar hit a UN position near Marji’yun.
Two other peacekeepers, who were wounded in the attack, are being treated at a UNIFIL medical facility in south Lebanon, he said.
“Attacks on peacekeepers must stop,” Dujarric said, adding that they are grave violations of international humanitarian law.

Iran has said it will seek to impose service fees on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz in return for security-related services, rather than charging traditional transit tolls.

US President Donald Trump has said the Strait of Hormuz would reopen swiftly once a proposed agreement with Iran is signed, pointing to what he described as positive movement in efforts to curb Tehran's nuclear ambitions and reduce tensions in the Gulf region.
Speaking at the White House on Wednesday, Trump discussed ongoing diplomatic engagement with Iran following recent military clashes and negotiations aimed at reaching a broader understanding between the two countries.
"Immediately upon signing the memorandum of understanding, the Hormuz Strait will open, and it will open up quickly," Trump said.
He also stated that US forces had already deployed minesweeping assets in the area and that the majority of suspected naval mines had been removed.

Writing on X on Wednesday, Al Thani questioned the rationale behind Iran's recent attacks targeting Bahrain and Kuwait. He also suggested there were grounds to examine whether the operations had been planned well in advance.

"Israel and Lebanon can do a peace deal tomorrow," Rubio said, adding that "Israel has no territorial claims in Lebanon. Hezbollah is the impediment."
