Kanpur: Police on Tuesday claimed to have cracked the murder case of a teenager in Unnao and arrested two people who allegedly attempted to sexually assault her and strangled her when she resisted.
The 15-year-old girl from a village under Ajgain Kotwali went missing around 7 pm on Saturday. Police said her body was found in a field about 500 metres from her house on Sunday. Based on injury marks on her neck and the condition of the body, her mother alleged rape and murder.
Inspector Kotwali police station Suresh Singh said that the investigation revealed the teenager was acquainted with Vishal Maurya, a resident of the same village, and had been seen with him on several occasions. Police said Vishal was a substance abuser and and called the victim to meet him.
Police said that after she arrived, Vishal’s friend Shailendra alias Paggal Lodhi, a scrap dealer and resident of Korara village in Ajgain, arrived with liquor. Police said both men drank alcohol and then attempted to sexually assault the girl. When she resisted and raised an alarm, they gagged her, police said. Police said that when she still did not relent, they strangled her in a fit of rage.
