NEET-UG re-test: Chhattisgarh steps up security, traffic planning ahead of June 21 exam

Raipur: With the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21, the Chhattisgarh govt has intensified preparations to ensure the test is conducted smoothly, securely and without disruption across the state. Chief secretary Vikas Sheel has directed collectors and SPs from all districts to strictly adhere to guidelines issued by the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA), amid heightened scrutiny surrounding national-level entrance examinations.The exam will be conducted at 127 centres spread across 19 cities in Chhattisgarh. NTA director general Abhishek Singh said district administrations have been asked to complete all logistical, technical and security arrangements well in advance and physically inspect centres before the examination.Authorities said question papers and OMR sheets will be transported to districts through the Indian Air Force, with special security measures put in place for their storage and movement. Adequate police deployment has also been planned at examination centres to maintain law and order.A statewide mock drill will be conducted on June 20 to test preparedness and identify any last-minute gaps.One of the key challenges before the administration is that the examination coincides with International Yoga Day, when large-scale public events and VIP movements are expected across the state.Officials acknowledged that managing traffic will be crucial, particularly in cities such as Raipur where thousands of candidates will be travelling to examination centres on the same day. District administrations have been asked to prepare special traffic plans and ensure that Yoga Day events do not affect the movement of students.“The focus is to ensure candidates reach their centres without inconvenience. All concerned departments have been instructed to maintain seamless coordination,” an official said.Control rooms will be established in every district and remain operational throughout the examination day to facilitate quick response to any emergency or logistical issue.The heightened preparations come as entrance examinations continue to face intense public scrutiny following allegations of irregularities in various recruitment and competitive tests across the country over the past year.
