Resident Evil Veronica was among the biggest announcements made recently at the Summer Game Fest 2026. It has sent the survival horror community into an absolute frenzy, and fans are extremely excited to know more details about the upcoming title.
Resident Evil Veronica is essentially going to be a full remake of the beloved 2000 classic Resident Evil: Code Veronica. Capcom opened up the Summer Game Fest 2026 with its reveal, and it is set to be one of the finest releases of 2027.
Below, we take an in-depth look at Resident Evil Veronica.
Resident Evil Veronica release date and platforms
According to the official announcement, Resident Evil Veronica is currently in development and will release in 2027. No exact release date is known at this time, but it is expected that the game will release in the Q1 2027 window.
Therefore, you can expect Resident Evil Veronica to release around the time that Resident Evil Requiem released this year, i.e., February 27, 2026. This gives Capcom a flagship Resident Evil title in consecutive years, which is a pattern the company has followed with previous entries and remakes.
Speaking of the platforms, Resident Evil Veronica will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
Resident Evil Veronica story details
The original Resident Evil: Code Veronica took place three months after the events of 1998's Resident Evil 2 and concurrently with 1999's Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. The story follows Claire Redfield and her brother Chris Redfield as they try to survive a viral outbreak at a remote prison island in the Southern Ocean and a research facility in Antarctica. In the reveal trailer, Claire Redfield visits the apartment of her brother Chris Redfield. The visuals are very reminiscent of modern RE Engine titles such as Resident Evil Requiem, and towards the end of the trailer, Hunk can be seen having an encounter with Claire.
What to expect from Resident Evil Veronica
Resident Evil Veronica will remain faithful to the original game but will feature modern gameplay, a reimagined storyline, and detailed graphics. The remake offers a massively overhauled experience and will also help set up the events of later entries in the Resident Evil timeline.
Alongside Resident Evil Veronica, Capcom is also working on a new Resident Evil Zero remake, which is expected to arrive after Veronica. This extends the company's remake roadmap into 2028.
With Summer Game Fest delivering this news, fans now have two major Resident Evil projects to look forward to in the years ahead.
