Kanpur: An elderly man was killed late at night with a sharp weapon while sleeping outside his house in Devpur village under the Sakrawa police station area of Kannauj district. In their initial investigation, police suspected the deceased's son
Ashok in the murder.
The victim was identified as Shrikrishna Batham (75), a resident of Devpur village. In the morning, his grandson came out of the house and saw Shrikrishna lying on a cot, drenched in blood. When he raised an alarm, people from the surrounding area gathered after hearing the commotion, and informed the police.
Station House Officer
Alok Kumar Singh and Chapunna police outpost in-charge Mahendra Singh reached the spot within a short time and informed senior officers. CO Chhibramau
Suresh Kumar also arrived. A police field unit and dog squad teams reached the village, inspected the crime scene and collected evidence by questioning family members.
Police said they suspected Ashok, the victim’s drunkard son, who lived separately and frequently abused his father after drinking alcohol. Ashok’s son Rajnish kept his grandfather Shrikrishna with him and took care of him.
Police said Ashok suspected that his father would transfer his four bigha farmland in Rajnish name, while Ashok wanted the land registered in his own name. Police said Shrikrishna was killed after he refused to give the land.
Rajnish lodged a written complaint against his father at the local police station wherein he stated that in a drunken state his father had abused his grandfather late at night. Then people pacified him and sent him back. After this, he came again with a takora in his hand and killed the grandfather.
