Kanpur: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Kanpur) has launched its official JoSAA Counselling Helpdesk 2026 to support JEE Advanced-qualified candidates during the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process. The initiative, organized by the institute’s Academics and Career Council (AnC), aims to help aspirants make informed and confident decisions at one of the most critical stages of their academic journey.
The helpdesk operates through an official WhatsApp community that became active on June 2, immediately following the declaration of JEE Advanced 2026 results. The platform connects aspirants directly with current IIT Kanpur students from various academic departments, enabling candidates to access reliable information and authentic insights from verified student mentors.
The community features department-specific doubt groups, general discussion forums, and dedicated announcement channels to ensure that aspirants receive timely updates and accurate guidance throughout the counselling period.
Speaking about the initiative, Adwait Pandey, general secretary (UG), Academics and Career Council, IIT Kanpur, said, “The JoSAA Helpdesk reflects our commitment to supporting incoming students with honest, first-hand guidance.
We want every aspirant to make a confident, well-informed decision regarding their academic future.”
Through the help desk, candidates can engage directly with student volunteers from departments they are considering for admission, gaining valuable perspectives on academics, campus life, and future opportunities. Key areas of guidance include branch selection and preference ordering during JoSAA counselling, Personalized department-specific guidance from current students, academic curriculum and flexibility at IIT Kanpur, placements, internships, research opportunities, and higher studies.
The JoSAA 2026 registration and choice-filling process will remain open until June 11 followed by mock seat allocations and subsequent seat-allocation rounds. The helpdesk will continue to operate throughout the counselling cycle, remaining active until the completion of seat allocation in mid-July 2026 to provide continuous support to aspirants.

In addition to the helpdesk, IIT Kanpur will organize an Online JoSAA Open House on June 9 at 10 am for JEE Advanced 2026 qualified candidates and their parents.
The session will feature the director of IIT Kanpur, along with deans and senior faculty members, who will provide an overview of the institute’s academic programmes, research ecosystem, campus life, placement opportunities, and student support systems. The Open House will also include an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing participants to directly engage with Institute leadership and seek clarifications regarding academics, student life, placements, research opportunities, and the JoSAA counselling process.
