          • CBI arrested Pune-based Botany teacher Manisha Mandhare, alleging that the NTA-appointed expert leaked Biology questions from the cancelled NEET-UG exam.
          • Her arrest came a day after retired chemistry professor PV Kulkarni, who was associated with the NTA’s question paper-setting panel, was arrested in the case.
          • Both key accused were sent to 10-day CBI custody by a Delhi court, while nine people have been arrested so far in the nationwide probe.

          • CBSE has made the study of three languages compulsory for Class IX students from July 1 under NEP 2020 guidelines.

          How The New System Will Work
          • Assessments for the third language will be entirely school-based and reflected in CBSE certificates.
          • Foreign languages can only be chosen as the third language or as an optional fourth language.
          • Schools facing teacher shortages can use virtual classes, shared resources and retired teachers as interim solutions.

          • A Lucknow University assistant professor was detained for leaking exam papers for personal favours and making inappropriate advances toward a student.

          • Police have registered a case and are probing the authenticity of the recordings and possible exam paper leakage or manipulation.

          • The university initiated an internal inquiry after receiving multiple audio clips from the complainant and subsequently handed them over to police.
          • Students staged protests on campus, demanding strict action,and calling for the professor’s removal.

          • The victim’s mother filed a complaint under the BNS and POCSO Act against the husband, the landlord and one of the landlord’s relatives.
          • The family had moved to Morbi around six months ago for work and was living in a rented house for Rs 2,000 a month.

          Minor Daughter Also Assaulted
          • The complaint alleged that the landlord repeatedly raped both the woman and her minor daughter at different locations.
          • A relative of the landlord was also accused of raping the woman, while the husband allegedly consented to the abuse as rent dues piled up.
          • Police arrested the husband and landlord, while relatives accused of helping the crime remained absconding.
