Raipur: NTPC Sipat on Saturday launched the girl empowerment mission (GEM)-2026, a month-long residential programme aimed at empowering young girls from project-affected villages through education, personality development and life-skills training.
Around 130 girls from 38 govt schools, who recently passed Class 5, have been enrolled in the four-week programme under NTPC’s flagship initiative. Designed for girls in the 10-12 age group, the programme includes academics, computer education, yoga, sports, self-defence, communication skills, hygiene, discipline, arts, music and personality development.
The initiative was inaugurated by Bilaspur DIG and SSP Rajnesh Singh in the presence of NTPC Sipat business unit head Swapan Kumar Mandal and senior officials.
Addressing the participants, Rajnesh Singh praised NTPC Sipat’s efforts towards girl empowerment and urged the girls to “dream big” and use the programme to build confidence and realise their potential.
Mandal described GEM as a transformative platform that nurtures leadership and aspirations among young girls. He said NTPC Sipat has trained 525 girls under the programme since its launch in 2019.
