Woman found hanging in Jhansi

Jhansi: A 27-year-old woman, married a year ago, was allegedly found hanging at her in-laws' house under mysterious circumstances on Monday, with her legs folded on the bed. By the time, the police reached the house, the husband along with his mother and other relatives, had absconded.According to police, the woman got married to a man of Nai Basti area in Samthar in Feb 2025.Her father alleged that it was a case of murder and her in-laws allegedly demanded dowry.On the basis of the his complaint, police registered a case against the husband, his mother, brother, uncle and aunt under Section 85 (cruelty against a woman) and Section 80 (dowry death) of the BNS, and Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Act.SHO Atul Kumar Rajpoot, of Samthar police station, said that two teams have been constituted to catch the absconding accused. He further said that the police is investigating weather it is a case of murder or suicide.
