GoogleBook announced with Gemini Intelligence: All you need to know about Google’s latest laptop
Google has announced GoogleBook – a new breed of laptops that are powered by Gemini and have Gemini Intelligence at its core. The tech giant says that GoogleBook is designed to be a laptop with AI at its core by combining the speed of the Chrome browser, the vast library of Google Play apps and a modern design built specifically for the new Gemini Intelligence platform.

GoogleBook gets Magic Pointer

One of the most intriguing changes that is coming to GoogleBook is evolution of the mouse cursor. Developed alongside the Google DeepMind team, the Magic Pointer brings AI directly to users’ fingertips. By simply “wiggling” the cursor, users can summon Gemini, offering smart suggestions based on what is on the laptop’s screen. For example, it can allow users to take contextual actions by pointing at a date in an email, and the Magic Pointer will offer to set up a meeting. Another example can be selecting an image of a living room and a photo of a new couch, and Gemini can instantly show what that couch would look like in your home.

Create you widget on GoogleBook

Google is bringing its Create Your Widget feature to the desktop. Instead of searching through folders and apps, users can simply “prompt” Gemini to build a custom dashboard. For example, if you are planning a family reunion, you can ask Gemini to organise your flight details, hotel info, restaurant reservations, and a trip countdown into one single, personalised widget on the desktop.

Refining the ecosystem with Android

One of the biggest selling points of the GoogleBook is its relationship with the Android ecosystem. Google has designed these laptops to stay in sync with Android phones.Users can use your phone’s apps directly on your laptop without downloading them. For example, if you’re working and get a notification for a food order, you can finish the task in a small window on your GoogleBook and get right back to work.

Premium hardware and the ‘Glowbar

Google says that it has partnered with industry players including Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo to manufacture GoogleBooks with premium materials and high-end specs. Every GoogleBook will feature a signature “Glowbar” – a unique light strip that will showcase that it is a GoogleBook.Google says this is just a “sneak peek” of the experience, with more details on pricing and specific models expected to be shared later this year.
