Barcelona officially secured the La Liga title on Sunday after beating Real Madrid 2-0 in a huge El Clasico clash at Camp Nou. Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres scored the goals as Hansi Flick’s side completely controlled the game against their biggest rivals. Even though Lamine Yamal missed the match because of injury, the Barcelona youngster still became one of the biggest talking points after the final whistle because of his social media activity aimed at Jude Bellingham.
Shortly after the celebrations started, Yamal posted a picture on Instagram of himself celebrating in the stands with the caption: “Talk is cheap,” along with several crying emojis. The post quickly spread across social media because fans remembered Bellingham using the exact same words earlier this season after Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu in October.
Lamine Yamal reminds Jude Bellingham of old El Clasico message as Gavi explains Vinicius Junior clash
Back in October, Jude Bellingham scored the winning goal when Real Madrid defeated Barcelona in the first El Clasico meeting of the season. After that game, the England midfielder shared a celebration post on Instagram with the caption “Talk is cheap.” At the time, many supporters believed the message was aimed at Lamine Yamal after the Barcelona teenager made confident comments before the match.
Now, months later, Barcelona had the final celebration after winning the league title in front of their home fans.
Yamal appeared to use Bellingham’s own words against him after Real Madrid struggled throughout Sunday’s game. The young winger’s post quickly became popular online, with Barcelona fans enjoying the moment after their title-clinching victory. Midfielder Gavi also reposted Yamal’s Instagram story during the celebrations, showing how much the win meant inside the dressing room.
The match itself was also filled with emotional moments and heated exchanges between players. One of the biggest talking points came when Gavi and Vinicius Junior were involved in a tense argument during the game. After the match ended, Gavi was asked about the incident and calmly explained what happened on the pitch.
Gavi said: “Vinicius is just football. What happens on the pitch stays on the pitch. He’s a hot-headed player, just like me. Vinicius is a fantastic player. I told him to shut his mouth, and that’s it.”
The Barcelona midfielder also explained that rivalries during games do not affect how he feels about players away from football.
He added: “What happens on the pitch is one thing, and what happens off it is another. On the pitch, I defend my colors and give it my all. Off the pitch, I’m completely different, even if it doesn’t seem like it.”
Barcelona will now continue their title celebrations before facing Alaves on May 14. They will finish their La Liga campaign with matches against Real Betis and Valencia.
