Woman stabs alcoholic husband to death in Srikakulam

Visakhapatnam: A woman fatally stabbed her husband, who was allegedly harassing and beating her up after coming home drunk every day, in Srikakulam town. The deceased was identified as D Asiri Naidu (46), a native of Devadi village under Narasannapeta mandal in the district. He was staying in Prakash Nagar area of Srikakulam town for the last few years.Police said Naidu, along with his wife Jayalakshmi and two children, came to Srikakulam town a few years ago for a livelihood. While the initial years were peaceful, trouble started when Naidu got addicted to alcohol. He used to spend all his earnings on liquor and also used to beat up his wife after coming home drunk. His son Manikanta, who is pursuing ITI, was working as a delivery boy to support the family as his father became idle.On Friday night, Naidu came home drunk again and picked up a quarrel with his wife. As he started beating her, Jayalakshmi, in a fit of rage, picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed him. Naidu collapsed in a pool of blood and died before he could be taken to the hospital. After being alerted, Two Town police, led by inspector P Eswar Rao, rushed to the spot and sent the body for postmortem. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
