Tirupati: In a major push toward crime prevention and public welfare, Chittoor district police officially launched a unique community policing initiative titled ‘Surakshitha Chittoor – Mee Bhadrathe Maa Badyatha’ (Safe Chittoor – Your Safety is Our Responsibility).
Formally launched by Chittoor SP Tushar Dudi in the presence of district collector
Sumit Kumar and Chittoor MLA Gurajala Jaganmohan, this initiative focuses extensively on creating comprehensive public awareness regarding women and child safety, drug eradication, cybercrime prevention, and road safety.
Chittoor SP Tushar Dudi emphasised that public safety is a shared responsibility between citizens and the police department. He noted that raising proactive awareness to prevent crimes before they occur is far more effective than taking punitive action after a crime has been committed.
Highlighting the impact of cyber fraud, drug abuse, and road accidents on modern society, the SP stated that the campaign aims to take safety messages directly to every village, educational institution, neighbourhood, and family across the district to build a crime-free society.
District collector Sumit Kumar echoed these sentiments, highlighting that public education is the most critical weapon to combat modern social and technological challenges. He urged students, parents, teachers, and youth to actively engage with the police initiative to better protect themselves.
Chittoor MLA Gurajala Jaganmohan commended the police department for designing an innovative programme to guide youth back on the right path, calling upon every citizen to treat the goals of “Surakshitha Chittoor” as their personal duty.
