Teen killed after sand-laden tractor overturns in Chatra

Times News NetworkChatra: A 19-year-old youth was killed and another person injured after a sand-laden tractor overturned in Hedum village under Lawalong police station limits on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Anush Kumar. The injured, identified as Tuli Ganjhu, was rescued from beneath the overturned tractor with the help of local villagers.According to eyewitnesses, the tractor was carrying sand from the Amanat river and was heading towards Hedum when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle causing it to overturn on the road. Anush, a passerby, got trapped under it and died on the spot.Local police station officer-in-charge Chandan Kumar said the tractor involved in the accident did not have a registration number and efforts are underway to identify the vehicle owner. The body has been sent for postmortem examination. Further legal action will be initiated after completion of the investigation, police said.
