18-year-old dies in road accident, 2 injured
Rajesh Kumar PandeyDumka: An 18-year-old boy died in a road accident near Dadi Rani Sati Temple on Jamtara road on Thursday afternoon. Two others sustained injuries in the incident. All were traveling together on a two-wheeler. The deceased was identified as Ronit Rai, a resident of Tilabad under Town police station limits in Jamtara district.Following the incident, locals blocked the road and staged a protest.According to reports, the accident occurred around 12 noon when a speeding dumper truck was turning towards a petrol pump for refuelling. During this time, the two-wheeler passing through the area, came under the dumper’s wheels, leaving Ronit critically injured. Locals rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Soon after receiving information about the incident, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Wasim Raja and local police station in-charge Manoj Kumar Mahto reached the spot along with police personnel to begin probe. The blockade was lifted after about two and a half hours after getting assurance of suitable compensation to the victim's family. "The driver managed to escape after the accident. We have seized the vehicle and further probe is on,” the SDPO said.
