Lucknow: If you are a humanities student and want to study computer science as one of your subjects in BA, then you need not look for admission in Delhi University or other universities, as now
Lucknow University is offering computer science as a subject in BA.
In a major push towards advanced computing and artificial intelligence, LU will introduce nine programmes in the field. The BA curriculum will include AI, the use of AI tools, applying AI across humanities disciplines, Python and more. Four degree programmes, two diploma programmes, and two certificate programmes will be offered from the 2026-27 academic session.
“About 75 seats are available in computer science, with subject combinations such as education, psychology, and women and gender studies. A student pursuing a BA with computer science will be taught advanced computing concepts that have utility in the humanities. From understanding what artificial intelligence is, to using AI tools and learning Python programming, everything will be covered during the course,” said Puneet Misra, head of the department of computer science and director of LU’s APJ Kalam Centre for Innovation.
He said blending technology with humanities subjects such as economics, sociology and psychology enables students to develop technology solutions with a focus on social impact, user behaviour and ethics.
“Two certificate courses and two diploma courses will be offered at the APJ Kalam Centre to help students develop innovative ideas using AI and learn how to apply AI for human welfare. Certificate and diploma courses in areas such as AI in medical services, AI in education, and AI in media will be introduced shortly,” Misra said.
He said LU has opened an application window for BCA in AI and machine learning, BCA (Data science and analytics), BCA (Cyber security and forensics) and BCA (Internet of Things), with 75 seats each.
