Twisha Sharma's husband Samarth Singh cites 'distress' over abortion, Rs 7 lakh claim, 'misleads' SIT over going off radar

Supreme Court Backs CBI Probe In Twisha Sharma Case, Warns Against Media Trial And Public Pressure
Prime accused Samarth Singh told investigators his wife, model-turned-actor Twisha Sharma, was distressed after an abortion and claimed he gave her Rs 7 lakh.
BHOPAL: As CBI team reached Bhopal to probe the death of Twisha Sharma after taking over the investigation from Bhopal police on Supreme Court directions, new details emerged from the SIT’s interrogation of her husband and prime accused Samarth Singh.During nearly three hours of questioning on Monday, Samarth allegedly told cops that the model-turned-actor had been under “distress” following an abortion, while also reiterating his claim that he and his family had given her Rs 7 lakh during the course of their marriage. Police said Samarth repeatedly attempted to mislead cops when asked about the period he remained off the radar after Twisha’s death, news agency ANI reported.Later in the evening, the SIT took Samarth Singh to his Bagmugalia Extension residence under Katara Hills police limits for a reconstruction of the crime scene, a process that lasted over two hours and was videographed as part of evidence collection.Cops said all statements made by Singh are being cross-verified, while police are examining bank transactions, call records and his movements during the period he was absconding.
Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar said former judge Giribala Singh, Samarth’s mother and a potential accused in the dowry death case, is also being questioned and may be summoned again for a detailed statement.Samarth Singh reiterated his claim that he and his family had given Twisha Rs 7 lakh during the course of their marriage, police said. The SIT has seized Samarth’s laptop, mobile phone, passport, Aadhaar card and other documents. The developments came hours before the Supreme Court directed the CBI to take over the probe into Twisha Sharma’s death and proceed expeditiously.
