Cops book 2 for accepting 50,000 bribe

Kolhapur: A police head constable and an accomplice were booked at Bhudargad police station for seeking bribe of Rs50,000 bribe from a vehicle owner for releasing a car impounded in relation to a crime.The vehicle owner approached Kolhapur's Anti-corruption Bureau claiming that police head constable Subhash Ananda Chougale (39) from Bhudargad Police station sought Rs1 lakh to release his car through a person named Mustafa Dastgir Shaikh (41), a resident of Sai Colony, Gargoti in Bhudargad tehsil. The amount was later settled to Rs50,000.The ACB laid the trap and arrested Shaikh who confessed that he accepted Rs50,000 on behalf of Chougale. tnn
