Three siblings drown in pond while bathing in Hamirpur
Jhansi: In a tragic incident, three minor siblings, including a four-year-old girl, drowned while bathing in a pond at Chani village in Hamirpur district on Thursday morning.According to reports, a villager, Parwati Srivas, had gone to the village pond, developed under the Amrit Sarovar Yojana, along with her three children — Shivendra (8), Rudransh (5), and Mandwi (4). While Parwati was washing clothes near the pond, the children entered the water to bathe.The children reportedly slipped into a deeper section of the pond and began struggling in the water. Hearing their cries for help, their mother raised an alarm and desperately called for assistance. However, by the time villagers rushed to the spot, all three children had drowned.Locals managed to retrieve the children from the pond and immediately took them to the Community Health Centre, where doctors declared them dead.SDM Abhishek Kumar said an ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh for each deceased child would be provided to the family.Meanwhile, some villagers alleged that the village has been facing electricity disruptions for more than 10 days, forcing many residents to rely on the pond for bathing and other daily needs.
