Kanpur: A private hospital at Machchhar Chauraha in Jalaun’s Orai Kotwali area has come under the scanner following allegations of medical negligence and inhuman treatment after the death of a four-year-old child on Thursday.
Family members alleged that the child died due to negligence in treatment.
According to reports,
Amjad Khan, a resident of Bhed village under Konch Kotwali limits, admitted his four-year-old son
Riyaz Khan to the hospital at around 4am on Thursday after the child complained of severe stomach pain. Family members alleged that the hospital administration collected Rs 5,000 at the time of admission and administered glucose, but no proper treatment was provided thereafter.
According to the family, the child’s condition continued to deteriorate while hospital staff repeatedly spoke about conducting medical tests without carrying out any necessary examination. The child died during treatment. Family members alleged that after the death, the hospital management distanced itself from the case, claiming that ventilator facilities were unavailable and advising them to shift the child to another hospital.
In a complaint submitted to the DM and SP, Amjad Khan alleged that hospital operator Dr Devendra Kumar Kaushal and other staff members fled the premises after the child’s death. He said when the family sought answers regarding the child’s condition, they found the hospital locked with the body still inside.
The family has demanded a fair probe, registration of a case against the hospital management and staff, and strict legal action against those found guilty.
Chief medical officer Dr Harinandan said he visited the site for inspection but found the hospital locked. He informed that an inquiry committee has been formed to investigate the matter and that the hospital’s licences and other documents are also being verified. He added that further action would be taken in accordance with the findings of the investigation and applicable regulations.
