Kanpur: A 25-year-old youth and his friend concocted a false story of his own kidnapping to pay off a debt. Police have caught both of them and are preparing for further legal proceedings.A woman, Sakeena, wife of Jamshed and a resident of Manohar Nagar, Uncha Tila, Jajmau, police station Jajmau, submitted a written complaint on Monday at the local police station stating that her 24-year-old son Faiz left home on Sunday at 09:00 am on his scooter (UP 78 FF 0251), to go to work near Madina Masjid, KDA., Jajmau, but did not return.On the basis of the complaint, a missing person report dated April 27 was registered at the concerned police station, and sub-inspector Ram Badan Ram was appointed to investigate. A team comprising the S-I Rishi Pal Singh and constable 341 Naveen Kumar was constituted and deployed for the safe recovery of Faiz.During the investigation, through WhatsApp calls made to the mobile phones of the complainant and the missing person’s wife, Tahmina, police found that some person had kidnapped Faiz and was demanding a ransom of Rs 1,00,000 for his release.Based on the location received from the Surveillance Cell, East Zone, Faiz’s location was traced to Ghaziabad, UP. The team went to Ghaziabad and, on investigation based on the location and CDR obtained from the surveillance team, it was found that Faiz, using his own mobile number through his associate Farman alias Kassu, son of Ahmad, permanent address Gali No.
4, Slum Nagar, Kela Bhatta, Kotwali police station, District Ghaziabad, and current address Check Post Jajmau, Jajmau police station, Kanpur Nagar, was making demands of Rs 1,00,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively via WhatsApp chat and voice calls to his own family members’ mobile numbers for his release.The team then called Farman alias Kassu on the mobile number of Faiz’s brother, Junaid, to gather information. Farman stated that he worked at a crockery shop in Ghaziabad. Acting on this information, the team reached the spot and interrogated Farman, who disclosed that they had been making the ransom demands as per a pre-planned scheme.Police said it was further revealed that after Faiz became aware of the situation, he travelled by train from Ghaziabad to Kanpur Nagar to his maternal aunt’s residence in the Rail Bazar police station area, Kanpur Nagar. The team brought Faiz’s friend, Kassu, from Ghaziabad to Kanpur Nagar to the maternal aunt’s residence, where Faiz was found present.On interrogation, Faiz and Farman admitted that Faiz had borrowed Rs 20,000 from his employer and, to repay it, both of them lured a rickshaw puller and executed the so-called kidnapping incident as per a pre-planned scheme.ADCP Shiva Singh stated that legal action as per rules is being taken against the said persons.
