Large scale operation launched against drug traffickers in city

Times News NetworkKanpur: In a major crackdown against drug traffickers in the Kidwai Nagar area of the city, police launched a large-scale operation in the early hours of Friday and raided dozens of locations. The operation, which began at around 5 in the morning, saw a team of 150 police personnel search 70 to 75 houses. The operation also included 35 female police personnel.During the raids, the police detained 10 suspects and began questioning them. According to officials, the aim of the operation was to dismantle the active drug trafficking network in the area and reach its kingpins. Police are zeroing in on a couple of local hoodlums as the key operators of the drug trade.According to preliminary information, their network was used to supply narcotics not only within the city but also to surrounding districts. During the raids, police gathered crucial information and leads from several locations, on the basis of which further action is being taken.DCP (South) Deependra Nath Chaudhary said that this campaign against drug trafficking will continue unabated. “Anyone found connected to this network will be arrested and sent to jail,” he added.
