Jaipur: Traffic police seized five low-floor buses operated by Jaipur City Transport Services Ltd (JCTSL) over pending traffic challans and alleged traffic violations. The buses were operating on Route No. 14 between Chomu Puliya and Bassi.
Officials said a large number of challans against these buses had remained unpaid for a long time. One of the buses alone reportedly had over 80 pending challans. Police initiated action after the dues were not cleared despite repeated notices.
The buses belong to the Todi depot, where maintenance work is being handled by Mateshwari Company. Employees alleged that drivers are frequently assigned double shifts, leading to negligent driving and operational issues.
Residents and commuters alleged that several low-floor bus drivers are often seen overspeeding and driving recklessly on city roads, increasing the risk of accidents. Allegations have also surfaced that the JCTSL management rarely takes strict action against errant drivers.
Following the police action, questions are once again being raised over adherence to traffic rules and monitoring of the city’s public transport system.
