Nine persons, including four men and five women, were arrested, while a juvenile was detained and sent to a child observation home.Police suspect confidential data of applicants seeking E-Mitra retailer IDs may have been leaked or illegally accessed from the Department of Information Technology (DoIT). Officials said a detailed probe would begin after the arrest of the alleged mastermind, who is absconding. The operation was jointly carried out by the commissionerate special team, Ramnagariya police and cyber police. During the raid, police seized eight laptops, nine mobile phones, six laptop chargers and a vehicle allegedly used in the fraud.Special commissioner of police Om Prakash said the racket was being operated from ABS Plaza near the 7 Number Bus Stand in Jagatpura.“We received intelligence inputs Monday about a cyber fraud module functioning in the name of issuing E-Mitra retailer IDs.
