Jaipur: Rajasthan’s Commissionerate for Special Persons with Disabilities has directed the Nathdwara Temple Board in
Rajsamand to make the temple premises accessible for persons with disabilities in compliance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016.
The directive came after Hemant Bhai Goyal, national chairman of the Disabled Rights Federation, submitted a representation seeking barrier-free access at the shrine under the Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan. The plea was forwarded by the deputy commissioner for specially abled persons.
The representation sought dedicated accessible routes for persons with disabilities and wheelchair users, ramps and railings, trained assistance staff, a dedicated disability assistance counter and clear signage across the temple premises to ensure smooth movement and access.
Acting on the request, the Commissionerate asked the chief executive officer of the Nathdwara Temple Board to take appropriate action under the existing rules and ensure compliance with the RPwD Act, 2016. The temple administration has also been asked to submit an action-taken report to the Commissionerate.
