Ajmer: The state govt is ready to conduct local and panchayat raj elections, but the decision has to be taken by the election commission, said minister of state for urban development and UDH and self-governance Jhabar Singh Kharra Saturday.
"The direction that the
Rajasthan High Court has given is to be implemented by the state election commission, and govt is ready to assist the commission in conducting the local bodies elections. The state commission is studying the directions of the high court," said Kharra.
Recently, the Jaipur bench of the Rajasthan High Court had directed to conduct the local body elections and fixed July 31 timeline to complete the election process.
Kharra, who was in Ajmer Saturday, laid the foundation stone for a convention centre at Jhalkari Bai Smarak. The centre is estimated to cost Rs 28 crore, of which Rs 6 crore will be given by the Ajmer Development Authority. It will be developed over 3.2 hectares of land and will accommodate 1,400 people. The convention centre will be equipped with the latest technology which could be used by the different communities.
State assembly Speaker and Ajmer North MLA Vasudev Devnani and Union state agriculture minister Bhagirath Choudhary were also present.
Kharra said that the greenfield expressway between Kotputli and Kishangarh will be completed soon as there were hurdles related to alignment, which will be cleared soon.
