Indore: Several vehicles were set ablaze by some persons outside a residence in Sai Suman Colony under Banganga police station limits late Monday night.
The incident came to light when neighbours raised an alarm, prompting family members to rush outside. The blaze destroyed two motorcycles, an autorickshaw, an electricity meter and other household property.
ACP Rubina Mizwani said that based on a complaint by Sai Suman Colony resident Sanjay Dabi, Banganga police registered a case against Jeet alias Babban and Arpit on charges of arson and creating a disturbance. “We have launched a search for the accused,” she said.
According to the complaint, the trouble began in evening when the two accused allegedly stood outside Dabi’s house and started abusing him. Dabi said that he requested them to leave, informing them that guests were present at his home. The accused reportedly left after the confrontation.
Later in the night, the family was alerted by smell of smoke and shouts of neighbours. When they rushed out, they found an autorickshaw parked outside their house and several nearby vehicles engulfed in flames. Among the damaged vehicles was a motorcycle belonging to neighbour Jayaprasad.
Dabi told police that he spotted the accused near the scene and attempted to catch them, but they managed to flee. Neighbours joined the family in controlling the fire before it could spread further.
