Over 56,000 families adopted home composting: IMC
Indore: Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has said that it has encouraged 56,978 families in the city to practice home composting.“Residents are managing organic waste at the source by installing composting bins to convert household wet waste into high-quality organic fertilizer. This initiative has reduced the aggregate volume of municipal garbage collected daily. The generated compost is being utilized locally in household lawns, kitchen gardens, and terrace gardens to grow fruits, vegetables, and plants, thereby reducing reliance on chemical fertilisers,” IMC commissioner Kshitij Singhal said.To drive public participation, IMC has launched creative awareness campaigns. “These programmes specifically engage and incentivize homemakers to lead scientific waste disposal efforts within their households. Senior municipal officials have urged more citizens to adopt this practice to support sustainable and green urban development,” he said.
