Encroachment over main drainage channel of Sirpur Lake razed
Indore: Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) on Thursday removed an illegal road and boundary wall constructed on the primary drainage channel of Sirpur Lake. The corporation colony cell official Tina Sisodia said developers had laid pipes, filled the channel with murrum and erected the structures to establish an unauthorised residential colony. The construction took place on an agricultural land at Sukh Niwas village in Rau tehsil. The targeted area serves as the overflow route for Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT) and forms the main feeder channel for Sirpur Lake. The corporation dismantled the illegal road and boundary walls to restore the channel’s natural dimensions and prevent potential waterlogging or supply disruptions during the rainy season.
