Indore: From practising dives at Indore’s govt-run Nehru Park swimming pool to securing a job with
Western Railway, 18-year-old diving sensation Palak Sharma has scripted another remarkable chapter in her inspiring sporting journey.
Popularly known as the city’s Golden Girl, Palak has been appointed as a ticket checker (TC) under the sports quota and will be posted at Dr Ambedkar Nagar Junction, Mhow.
At an age when most athletes are still trying to establish themselves at the junior level, Palak has already built an impressive record in Indian diving. The young athlete has represented the country at several international competitions and recently became the first Indian woman diver to compete at the World Aquatics Championship.
Expressing happiness over her appointment, Palak said, “This job is very special for me because it recognises my journey in sports. From training every day at Nehru Park to representing India internationally, it has been a long journey filled with hard work. My dream now is to win medals for the country and represent India at the 2028 Olympics.”
