No shortage of fuel across Telangana, says Kishan
Hyderabad: Union coal and mines minister G Kishan Reddy on Tuesday said there was no truth in claims that fuel stock was not available, stating that of 4,325 fuel stations across the state, only 106 outlets were temporarily out of stock due to technical reasons, including transportation and indent delays. He said the issue was expected to be resolved shortly.Speaking to the media after a review meeting on the availability of petrol, diesel and gas, he said supply was significantly increased to meet demand."Typically, the state receives a daily supply of 6,400 kilolitre (KL) (KL is equal to 1,000 litres), which has now been increased to 10,300 KL. In the city, the supply has been doubled from 3,200 KL to 6,400 KL. In the state, the supply is usually 8,000 KL, but it has now been increased to between 15,500 and 19,300 KL," he said. The minister said rumours circulating on social media about impending price hike and supply stoppages led people to purchase and stockpile more fuel than necessary, resulting in an artificial shortage. He urged the state govt and police to take strict action against those spreading false information. He also said no decision was made regarding any price increase. He said the influx of bulk users at retail stations was causing inconvenience to regular consumers, and urged bulk users to obtain fuel through their designated supply systems. The minister said there was no shortage of LPG, with public sector companies providing adequate supply, and added that small businesses could use 5-kilogram cylinders for their needs. He discouraged storing petrol and diesel at home, particularly during summer, calling it dangerous.
