Hyderabad: BRS working president
KT Rama Rao alleged that the Congress came to power by running a smear campaign against the BRS. He claimed that the Congress made false promises and issue fake declarations during the 2023 assembly elections, and that its ‘poisonous propaganda’ led to the BRS’ defeat. The Congress, which came through the backdoor, has pushed
Telangana back by 25 years, KTR alleged. He said chief minister A
Revanth Reddy was turning the state, which he himself had once described as a ‘platter full of abundance’, into a discarded platter.
Speaking after unfurling the national flag as part of Telangana Formation Day celebrations at Telangana Bhavan, KTR said the Congress has ascended to power by repeatedly spreading the same lies in the form of declarations. “The Congress has polluted Telangana politics with lies, fabrications, and poisonous propaganda. While the entire country got rid of Congress as a curse, it has found its way into Telangana,” he said. Though half of its term has already elapsed, the Congress govt has achieved nothing, KTR alleged, adding that the BRS’ struggle is not for power but for the people of Telangana.
“In 30 months, it has brought Telangana crashing down in all sectors.
There is no section that has not been deceived under Congress rule. Agriculture, which was progressing well, has slipped into crisis. There is no Rythu Bandhu, there is no one to provide fertilizers, and even after two months after harvesting, farmers are struggling to sell their produce. It is painful to witness a situation where even falling at the govt’s feet evokes no mercy,” he said.
The BRS leader alleged that, in an attempt to defame former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the Congress has harboured vengeance against irrigation projects. “Revanth Reddy is an incapable and incompetent CM. He failed to ensure the supply of urea, procure paddy, extend Rythu Bandhu, or provide jobs to unemployed youth,” he said.
KTR further alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had misled unemployed youth by making false promises at Ashok Nagar. “In its two and half years in ower, the Congress govt has not provided even 4,000 new jobs. Rahul Gandhi should come to Chikkadpally library and Ashok Nagar Chowrasta to debate on this,” he said. The BRS leader also said that the BRS would next elections on its own, stating that the party had always contested independently and secured victories on its own since the formation of Telangana.
